A Critical Resource
As an interventional cardiologist leading the way in treating children with CHD in northern Iraq, Dr. Aso continues to work without many of the resources that most doctors around the world take for granted.
Rashkind balloons are particularly vital for cardiologists like Dr. Aso. These devices are used during catheterization procedures for newborns with TGA. This crucial procedure creates a window of opportunity that allows the baby to survive long enough to travel for surgery.

Big Impact
Dr. Aso has saved hundreds of lives using a modified version of the Rashkind procedure he developed, which does not require an anesthesiologist. The device is used to create an opening between the heart chambers, improving blood and oxygen flow. When combined with special medication sourced from outside Iraq, this procedure
can extend a baby’s life by up to 40 days, giving Love Them All and the family precious time to arrange surgery.
The last time Dr. Aso received these devices was through a donation made by Sick Kids hospital in Canada which was facilitated by Love Them All back in 2022. Running out of Rashkind devices recently has left many children in desperate need.

A New Opportunity Secured
For the first time Love Them All managed to secure Rashkind balloons that could be delivered to Iraq through a medical supplier.
It is with great pleasure that we can report the successful delivery of several Rashkind balloons purchased by Love Them All along with special medication only available outside of Iraq. All items were received by Dr. Aso last week.
More precious lives will be saved effective immediately and we could not have done this without your support.
Thank You!
