Meet Lalo, we got to know Lalo while he was on his way to receiving lifesaving heart surgery abroad. Surgery was the only option for his little heart suffering from Tetralogy of Fallot, a combination of multiple heart defects that would have certainly killed him in the first few months of his life.
We were excited to know that Lalo’s surgery was a success and several months after surgery Lalo returned home to his family in Sulaymaniyah. However, as it is for countless children, a successful surgery is only the beginning of the story. Lalo must receive special care while being monitored closely for the rest of his life.
The challenges of caring for a child with congenital heart disease must not be faced alone. We continued to remain in contact with Lalo’s family and families like Lalo’s so that we can facilitate and provide for the best possible care.
